Newmac Expedition sets off for Africa

Maya-maya AirportToday marks the beginning of an exciting expedition into the heart of Africa. Stephen and Sam will be arriving in Maya-Maya Airport (BZV) and will begin making preparations to have the permits, tributes, and paperwork in place before the rest of the team arrives.

Getting through customs in a xenophobic country is a not an easy feat. It is common for custom officials to look for ways to confiscate items for the simple reason of wanting to keep them. At worst, custom officials are quick to confiscate high-value equipment like night-vision monoculars, thermal cameras, and video cameras with the accusation that you are a spy! The official Kickstarter backers can expect some exciting updates soon.

Later this week, Joe Marrero will be heading to San Francisco to hang out with the owner of Bombazi Wilderness Lodge, Cam Greig. Cam is a professional hunter and conservationist. As the son of missionaries, Cam was born in Cameroon and learned his jungle survival skills from Pygmies. Cam has been an exceptional asset to the team and will be helping Joe finish the remaining preparations state-side.

In a couple of weeks, Joe will be flying into Brazzaville to join the rest of the team.
